I don’t know Him.
That’s what Peter said when the servant girl accused him of being a friend of Jesus. Peter’s heart broke into a thousand weeping pieces… sorry…so bleeding sorry he had denied even knowing the Savior of the World, his best Friend.
But that was before The Resurrection.
2,000 years later, the servant girl’s whisper still haunts us… Don’t you know Him?
The servant girl asked Peter, “Aren’t you one of this Man’s disciples, too?”
~ John 18:17
Surely we would never deny knowing Him; that would be unthinkable. But we might say, I don’t know Him well enough.
Is that denial? It holds the same four knells: I…Don’t…Know…Him…
There we are, warming by the fire-barrel with Peter, minding our own business, when someone says, I’ve seen you with Jesus…Will you lead a Bible Study?
No, you’re mistaken…I don’t know Him well enough…
Or someone realizes you’re a Christian by the way you talk, and they say, Tell us about Jesus. You seem to know Him…
You must be one of them; we can tell by the way you talk.
~ Matthew 26:73
No, ask someone else…I hardly know Him…
But just like Peter, you long to serve Him with your whole heart, with all your talents, unashamed and openly.
You know you can lead. You know you can teach. You know you can sing… serve… write… encourage…
Can I tell you a secret?
It’s not about knowing Him.
It’s about LOVING Him.
Oh…but you do love Him…
That is all that’s required of you.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength… Do this, and you will live.
~ Jesus
Love the Lord with all your songs, all your words, all your listening, giving, teaching…
With all your heart…
Whatever you do, do it with all your heart… for the Lord, not for people.
~ Colossians 3:23
If you’re a believer, you know Him, and He knows you, because He’s ALIVE.
I know My own and My own know Me…
~ Jesus {John 10:14}
One of the most beloved missionaries has said, “Don’t go out and share Jesus unless you are in love with Him. When you are in love with Jesus, then all you do will radiate Him.”
Live your life in love with Jesus, and other people will want to know Him, too.
They’ll follow you to Him.
And when the servant girl comes back around, she won’t have to ask if you know Him. She’ll find you declaring the Risen Christ with your life, without anyone having to ask, just like Peter after The Resurrection…
For we cannot stop speaking about all we have seen and heard!
~ Peter, {Acts 4:20}
